Merging Air Units and Experience
If you withdraw a unit and then have its remaining pilots and aircraft sent to another unit, the remaining combined unit gets the experience of the unit gaining the pilots regardless of pilot makeup.
Example: I had a unit of 6 pilots of 72 experience join a unit of 3 pilots of 79 experience. The resulting unit of B17s had an experience of 79. I think this should be a weighted average resulting in 74.
Not a huge deal, but it should be noted IMHO. :p

Not hardly!
You are going to take a single engine fighter pilot who happens to have 98 experience and put him into a B-17?
Poor aircraft, as it is going to crash on takeoff
Moving pilots between squadrons should shift them DOWN in experience to make up for whatever retraining needs to be done.
Yes, there will always be cases where the pilot happens to be an expert at the aircraft you happened to transfer him to, but since the game system doesn't track experience per aircraft type and night vs day flight and cap vs escort and level bombing vs dive bombing etc ... you really can't represent this.

I think that juggling individual pilots has no place in UV or WitP. (just my two cents on that issue)
But, this "bug" should be corrected. I was merging banged up B17 units last night and with about 18 aircraft from four different units I was able to produce a unit with experience of 79. Now, considering that the TRUE average experience of the pilots of those units before they were merged was only about 65-70 that is pretty darn good.
So, now instead of a bunch of relatively average bomber pilots I have a unit of veterans that can skip bomb with the best of them. THIS makes a world of difference IMHO.

Did you check the individual pilot's experience? Maybe the squadron experience didn't go down, but the individual pilots still have their right experience level.
If their individual experience goes up, then its a definetly a bug that should be fixed, but If it is 'only' a display error, then its less critical issue.
Should be rather easy to check....

Ask them. But, I for one do now want to have to mess with individual people in this game below the rank of Capt (and that is questionable IMHO). In WitP it is a no-brainer for me that I will never have the time/need for this type of micro-managing.
Again, just my two cents.

I just ran a test and it looks like that statistic is not updated until the turn is processed. The others are updated right away, go figure. Anyway it works so I will not be adding this to the list.
Thanks,

Kid,
In the game I played last night my B17 units NEVER changed ratings after the turn was processed. As a matter of fact I did not notice this until AFTER the turn processed.
I am 100% sure of this because as I stated the break point I was worried about was 75 for skip bombing. I had planned on training for a day or two when lo and behold I did not have to when the turn was finished processing as my unit had an exper of over 75 when it should have been 74...
Seriously, I skip bombed the crap of the Japanese in Lae the next day with the units I mentioned above the very next day.
I suggest you test this with USAAF Bombers. I will continue to look at it if you like and I can try to get save games for you as well.

Did you use disband or withdraw? Withdraw will send the pilots back to the pilot pool.
If you have a save that will reproduce this, send it to me. Meanwhile I'll run a few more tests.

My bad
Bah!
My bad. I am "Withdrawing" the old/lower exp. unit. I have an excess of pilots it seems and few planes (**** zeros).
