3.04 Fatal Error

Just bought this game; am enjoying it, but was disappointed and surprised to encounter an error in a game this mature.

I was trying to resolve a battle and got the following error message:


The error occured no matter what option I chose for the battle. I could not exit the battle screen or the game, so had to Ctrl-Alt-Del.

I am running Win7 64 bit. I hope that doesn't happen often...

I had that once when I messed around with the graphics, put back the original graphics and all worked fine, then added the map mod and didn't have any problems since.

I've got the map, counter, and banner mods installed and rather like them...do I need to uninstall the counter and banner mods?

Your mod is fine chemkid....no problems there.

I have been using the map and counter mods with v3.03 and no obvious problems. I have also installed v3.04, but away from home right now and I have only been able to play a few turns, but it seems OK.

This is a battle in v3.04, the game screen shows the map and counter mods in use, but the battle screen is using the original stock counter icons - where did they come from. The stock icons are replaced in the Graphics folder with the mod files, the old stock icons I placed in an additional Archive file which I created. Where is the game finding the old icons to display in the battle screen.[&:]

I have been using Chemkid's map and counter mods even before they was completely finished, whilst using my own town name 'Banner' mod (two colour text town names ), all with no problems so far. However, I have not used the game in PBEM, or Hotseat mods and always resolved the battles with the AI.

The two unit icon types in use has not affected my v3.03 game so far, nor the v3.04, although I haven't been able to use that much yet, but will keep watching for any change.

Maybe comes from within the save file?

Just encountered the same problem playing as the Austrians in the Ulm campaign, i have no mods installed, had to Ctrl-Alt-Del to get out and start from the last autosave, thankfully the game continued without the same problem.

That shouldn't happen when the game has been started with the mods installed and with v3.04, never played using the old icon files. [:(]
