COMINT?

Post by Gneckes »

Hello gentlemen,

I'm curious as to how COMINT sensors are currently modelled in the, or if they are modelled at all?
Please enlighten me!

Same with Communications Jammers, I think they are also planned but not yet implemented (though they are in database). [8D]

I'm really looking forward to it too. I also hope for the possibility to create scenarios that are more about SIGINT. Create a puzzle where the player pieces together the true picture of the other side's disposition and intentions to facilitate the armored breakthrough later. And besides all that beautiful violence, COMINT mechanics could give a framework for storytelling. More like police work or intelligence operations.

In order to do it, the game has to keep track of who directly sees what I guess. And if the observer is being COM-jammed, nobody else can shoot at the target?

What! Actually play the game? Who will find all those bugs and things that are missing? What would I post on the forum? People would forget about me. I would be insignificant?

I do play it funnily enough, check out my AAR for canarys cage and it was great fun. If this is mainly directed at me all i was doing was stating that HF/DF isnt yet implemented just so we all know what sensors can pick stuff up. I think having these other sensors working at some point would be amazing and would surely be difficult to implement so if any of you thought i was having a dig, then you're wrong. Maybe i should have added on the end of my original post- "but these will be difficult to implement and the devs do a great job on a range of additions/fixes" so there you go. TheWood1 why dont you comment on my canarys cage AAR? also Down town Vietnam? would be interesting to hear your thoughts on those and if you've played those scenarios yourself...

Could you explain what part of HF/DF is missing?

Theres' nothing missing from what i can see, only i've never had them detect any contacts which has made me think they're not yet implemented- same as COMINT. Why are you asking me this?

To see if you know what you're talking about. With you it's better to determine that early on rather than waste times bunch of time and posts to come to a conclusion on it [:)]

Imagine if communication jamming is based upon player input, the more a player commands a unit (clicks and orders it), the greater the unit's communication footprint. That would start putting a realistic cap on player actions in the game....

All i said was the HF/DF isnt yet implemented, ok? now i wont comment on this again and it should have ended at that anyway as the question was answered. I added that the HF/DF wasnt yet implemented to save the same guy asking about it in another thread.
