OOB, is-2 and 3 armor

Post by Yurka »

Why is the Tiger have more that 100 mm front turret armor, but Is-2 only 100, in case it had 160 and Tiger only 100.. it's very strange and ahistorical Image
by the way, Is-3 had front hull armor about 230-250mm.

No way .. TigerZ rule !! 500mm at least !!

serious:

- we are working on the OOBs

- we try to verify the unit stats

- give sources if you can, or be quiet !

- before posting anything at all, search the old threads .. TigerI discussion has been there before ... more than enough.

Arralen, be polite Image

Even unsupported claims are allowed, although when they concern oob's I am more likely to ignore them Image

Yurka, find that long Tiger discussion. To give it short the Tiger has about 100-110mm turret thickness but there is also a gun shield that is bit thicker and covers almost whole turret front. Also the rest of the gun/turret are behind that shield adding to the effective protection level.

In previous oob set this value used to be 200mm but it was downgraded a bit.

As for IS-3..one often referred russian site: http://history.vif2.ru/ has drawings about it and there the front hull is only 120mm. Perhaps you are mixing it with the 'effective' armour thickness values that have the slope included?

For IS-2 it gives 90-100mm for turret and 120mm for hull.

Oh, Arralen never claims to be polite or nice or whatever.
His famous saying is "Flame me, and I'll flame you. Maybe I'll even flame you anyway."

If I find the time one day I'll put up his website, here's the logo already:
