Side-show invasions

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Side-show invasions

Post by mroyer »

By turning off certain annexation and decision scripts, is it possible to cause players to need to militarily play out various side show invasions to gain the territory; wars such as the Winter War in Finland, the invasions of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and so on?

It would mess up the whole game balance. To be able to take part in it, your Soviet war readiness would need to be 100% and Finland would join the Axis immediately as there are only two "sides".
This would mess up the Soviet MPP production balance compared to the Axis, and so forth. The whole game would need to be rebalanced again.
In multiplayer you could probably pull it off with some rules to be agreed upon. But vs the AI it would end up in a mess.
I can't predict what the AI would do when you would be at war with the Axis already during the Winter War.

I was thinking for multiplayer (i.e., two players), actually. But, I see what you mean for AI for sure.

Wouldn't it be sweet if, in multiplayer mode, "third" sides could be operated by AI? I could imagine this being useful for the Winter War, for the Chinese Communists (if we ever get a Pacific Theater) and perhaps other situations (the French vs. Thai).
