Unit formations

How can you tell what type of formation your unit is in? needs an icon somewhere for quick ID of formation.

There should be a small icon just to the right of each formations flag denoting what formation they are in. If you look at the formation menu, for each formation, there is a small icon just to the left of it and it is that one that is displayed over the unit. An exception to this is if they are in "free" formation, then there is no icon displayed.

If you take the time at some point during a setup phase, select a units flag and go through all the formations etc and also SOP's, etc and you will notice the myriad of small icons around a units marker which change as you make selections. A lot of them are that small you hardly notice they are there. I hardly notice them and only really see them if I get close to the screen so I do not bother with them. About the only noticeable ones are the types of movement, ie "Q", "M", etc above the icon that stand out.

I never have had an issue reading the icons. 3 dots in a line, 3 dots in a triangle, it's pretty clear.

ive noticed there is no way to adjust formation facing, so a wedge might face north, but if you are advancing east, then its not really a wedge anymore cuz it still faces north

Really!!! I have never seen that, I always find a formation on the move will orientate itself to face the direction of travel. If a unit is static, then I use the "defend" or "Rotate" command to turn the formation in the direction I want it too.

If the icons are too small to read, then how about increasing the UI scale in the settings launcher?
