23 Enabled 'z' key to speed up animations

Post by Heeward »

Thought I start to play again

I was reading the patch notes from version 1.01.24 of December 25, 2014
Note 23 Enabled 'z' key to speed up animations

How does this work?
Do you do this during when an animation is running or at anytime?

You hit the 'z' key while a combat animation is running. It will speed up the animations so that you can barely read the event text, but it will still go through the motions of displaying all the event text. I've never really used it - if I'm not interested in watching a particular play-by-play and want to skip to the results, I just hit the 'Esc' key. As long as 'Combat Summaries' are turned on, a summary of the combat will be displayed and the turn play paused until you hit the 'Esc' key or click the 'Done' button.

FYI, in the 'Preferences' menu ('P' hotkey), you can set the default combat animation speeds (called 'delay') by combat type:

Thank you Kovar.

I was just wondering, I usually set animations to display but minimum time for delay

I was hoping that this would speed the animations up even more.

The best thing to do is to try it. When I did, some of the animations were so fast that it was almost the same as hitting 'Esc' and skipping to the results.

As for message delay settings - I'm not sure how readable my above picture is, but I set all but sub-to-naval and air-to-naval to 0.5 sec, with the exceptions set to 1.0 sec. I set those to a slower pace because it helps with battle damage assessment. As you know, not all the event messaging is recorded in the summary, so the only way to get clues as to the severity of damage caused by air or sub attacks is by reading the events as they occur.
