[RESOLVED] Shifting Sands campaign Play

Post by zx900a10 »

Hello!

I am enjoying CMANO very much!
During playing Shifting Sands Campaign play, I have some problem below.

1.During playing "Fifth Eskadra", even if I have sunk US CVs(J.F.K or Roosevelt), it was not counted to points...
After challenging two times, I checked Scenario Editor and I am sure it should be counted...
Is this an error???

2.During playing "15.Fifth Eskadra", after I have reached pass-score of 2000 points and pressed "continue campaign", the scenario has jumped to "13.Second out Round Two" again!!
As "15.Fifth Eskadra" is 15th scenario, the next should be "16.Operation Opera"!!
Is this my own trouble or some error in CMANO???
And is it possible to amend this phenomenon from save file???

I have uploaded a save file and pictures showing the evidences.
Please check save file from Game > Scoring > Continue Campaign.

Your help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Okay, can you please do the following:

1) Download the attached zip file.

2) Unzip the contents of the file into your "[CMANO]\Scenarios\Shifting Sands" folder, overwriting existing files when prompted.

3) Resume from your most recent save in the scenario "Fifth Eskadra", and give it another try.

Please let us know how it goes. Thanks!

Thank you very much, Dimitris.
I haven't imagined such a quick response!!

I checked the scenario and noticed pass-score of "Fifth Eskadra" changed from 2,000 to 4,800.
To achieve 4,800 points means players have to kill all US carriers(=3,000 points) and some more destroyers.
As it seems difficult for me to earn more than 4,800, I have not yet checked whether the scenario after "Fifth Eskadra" is "Operation Opera" or not.
If you could change pass-score, let me try again...

Thank you.

If you want to check, there is an easy way. (Also handy if you get hung up on a scenario and just can't figure out a way to pass it).

Go to the Scenarios folder in C:MANO
Then to the Shifting Sands folder
Find the file Shifting Sands.campaign
Make a copy and rename the original something like Shifting Sands.campaign-original
Rename the saved file Shifting Sands.campaign
It's a text file you can open in any editor.
Open and scroll down until you see the section that has that pass score of 4800. Change to some number less than your current score and save.

Then open from your saved game and it should now say you have a passing score and you can check that it advances correctly.

If you want to play it the right way go back and delete the edited file and rename Shifting Sands.campaign-original back to Shifting Sands.campaign and start again from your saved game.

I did this in Northern Inferno twice when I just got tired of trying to beat the game and wanted to move on :-)

Thank you ultradave!!

Although I have followed your advice and rewrite campaign file, it is, somehow, saying that pas-score is still 4800...
Is my process incorrect???

1.copy original and rename it
2.open original campaign file via editor and rewrite pass-score from 4800 to 2000
3.save re-written file
4.open saved file and check the pass-score...

Even if it does not work, your advice is highly appreciated.

That should work assuming you got the re-naming correct and it is using your changed file. Not sure why it isn't working.

I had to change permissions to have write access (starting at the Command War-game of the Year directory). Otherwise I couldn't save the change. Could that be the problem?

[edit] Got it to work on Chains of War. Had to go through some hoops to change permissions and then use Notepad++ in admin mode to get it to save the .campaign file. I bet that's the issue. It's probably not actually saving the change.

I have tried again and changed not only copied file but also original file this time.
It was successful and jumped to "Operation Opera"!!

I appreciate your support dimitris and ultradave!!

Let me check whether sinking CVs may earn points or not.
It may take some time...

Anyway thank you again!
