Serial number check failed - cant join MP

Ive tried doing a clean reinstall and got the same error when I launched the MP login.

After a second attempt I get this charming message:

That happened to me. Once your time expires, you should be able to log in. It fixed itself for me.

Except that it doesnt fix itself. Yes the IP block expires, but I still get that immediate error.

Are you running the game fully updated? There was an error that mean serials were not being correctly sent to the server. Please update to the latest version.

Yes, but I see what looks like the same update was released again today, I'll try that this evening.

The 1.0.1 patch did resolve my issue and Im able to join the MP lobby.
