The return of the blizzard bug

Post by JIM366 »

Hello all

It seems that the evil blizzard bug has once again reared it's ugly head. During a game of Possum 6/ WIR 3.3 I suffered 7 shatters in the first blizzard turn, 4 on the next, and 6 more the turn after. All Korpses were fitted out with 4 divisions, and all were well above 70 readiness when the 'party' began. Having taken Leningrad, I had an ample supply of Finns distributed throughout the front. I also enjoyed air superiority as a result of beaten the tar out of the poor VVS. Having now lost almost an entire army group in December, and with March 8 or 9 long turns away, I have decided to turn and run as fast as I can.

I do not have a problem with being thrown back by the Red Army, and having to give up ground. I realise that the blizzard turns give the Soviets a chance to stabilise the situation, recover some ground, save the Motherland, etc; but I hate the idea of having my entire armed forces annihilated by a bug.

I have heard that the blizzard bug was fixed for 3.3, could this be a Possum specific problem? (No disrespect intended, as I think that the Possum scenarios rock)

Has anyone else had this problem? Is anyone coding away lookong for a fix?

Please help!

Thank you

Jim, who is getting his butt kicked in the fozen wastes....

Jim,

All my tests have shown the blizzard code to be working as intended, and Possum's variation should not have any impact on the results as it is strictly a function of readiness and combat formulas. Someone else that had the problem found out at some point that his Soviet opponent was using v. 3.2 still, I guess, which would definitely explain the problem for him.

If you would like, you could send me your game files to test out, and if PBEM encoded, I need the passwords for you AND your opponent to check out the situation. But so far, I have not found any problems when running created tests or 3 other saved games that various players have sent me.

Thanks. My email is rbancroftATatt.net.
