A community idea

Post by Hanzberger »

Just had an idea. Voluntary of course, but I hope it catches on.

In your profile, if you could please update your current status of what you are currently doing with WitPAE.
It could be simple, like mine below or a link to your AAR. And if we all could keep it somewhat current I think it
would be kinda cool when reading posts.
Thoughts?

Preparing to do a complete rebuild of my mod, based on A-Mac's tier 2 ironman, because, in hindsight, tier 3 ironman is over the top, and also because there are some data entry errors that need fixing, and thirdly because if I reduce the data load, Hans Bolter might be able to load it [8D]

Yes, I think what ever you are doing in AE you should tag. So really cool to find out Ian is rebuilding his mod and BSG is reading the manual.

I am already trying to follow your AAR jd.

I guess I'll have to remove my signature of my hero. I don't show it all the time. It irritates some people, reminds them of someone or something.

The "what I want to say" still isn't there. I don't know what it's for then. Guess I'll have to put that in the signature to please Hans.

It's fixed now. I think every post I've made with a sig since the beginning of time has been changed.

Waiting to see if I can get a new apartment in a better location for me. Hopefully the BSODs from the unasked for Windows 10 upgrade are over.

Completed my first Coral Sea playthrough as the US Navy...

Decisive victory.

For the loss of just the Astoria and Dewey...we sank the Shoho, several light cruisers, and enough of the invasion force that the last few days of the scenario was just playing out time and experimenting with different sweeps and airbase attacks on Lae.

Time to try the Japanese side...which I assume is a bit more complicated as it's not just...set ambush, smack enemy, stay away from the LBA...

Oh, and I'm up to about page 150 in the manual.

As the Japanese player, you should make sure that your ships sink in shallow water so they would make good tourist attractions for the scuba divers . . . [;)]

Very funny...

Though, my current plan is to pursue a battle immediately south of Rabaul rather than the overly complicated plan for Operation MO with the Shokaku and the Hiryu operating farther to the east...so, any losses will likely be in areas where divers might have better access...

I was surprised to see that the scenario starts AFTER the invasion of Tulagi. I dont think I can do anything to protect the landing ships except fly the float planes into Tulagi and retreat the support ships until I've dealt with the Lexington and Yorktown groups.

Hory crap. That was way too exciting.

Shokaku got torpedoed by an S boat on the first day.

Lexington came charging north and engaged my fleets from a position north of them (between the Shortlands and Rabaul!).

Shoho got hit hard but didnt sink. Her aircraft bailed back to Rabaul. The invasion fleet lost half a dozen transports to the dive bombers but soldiers on.

Because my big CVs plus the LBA from Rabaul savage the Lexington fleet. Lexington is hit hard, Chester is sunk.

Yorktown has the last laugh though, her dive bombers find and pulverize Shokaku. She sinks during the night and all her planes head off to Rabaul. I have a major stacking problem on my hands.

The following day Lexington is sunk by 5 torpedo hits.

...and I-28 finds the enemy refueling group and torpedoes the Australia, the Hobart, AND the Tippecanoe (AO).

My forces have just landed on Port Moresby after a night naval bombardment by the Shoho group heavy cruisers.

I'm still losing the scenario on points so far...and I cant help seeing the loss of Shokaku as greater than the value of PM...

...but this has been educational.
