Pbem, newbie questions

Post by Pack Rat »

Just about to end two pbem games both were challenges, so I had nothing to do with the set ups. How do I set up a pbem? I've tried all sorts of things. I also don't know which allied force my opponent will pick if that matters in the set up. I proposed the rules and assuming he gives the ok I'd like to have the game waiting for him when he returns from an ankle operation.

Maps. Random maps no problem they should set the right side for your forces. ncpanther and I are playing on a WB creation (Winter Hill Country) and we have the sides switched. Most of the time I seem to be fighting the terrian as much as the Soviets Image Good map Wild Bill. So by this I would assume you need to know the map before you do the challenge according to the map, so you have the right side? Yeah nc it's true and your guys have been retreating into my sights, when we play in the future we'll be more careful.

PS I looked for this information in the manuels but didn't see it. Is it in a manuel? If not should it not be added?

Duh !! figured it out, just didn't go far enough with it. I still assume it helpful to know what force the opponent wants to play for the map to be right, hence who should challange who.

Yea! And you can go the map editor and changes sides, etc. When using a custom map, it is good to check the retreat/reinforcement hexes before starting pbem play or you wind up with retreating forces running the wrong way and a crash if someone calls for reinforcements.

I noticed this the last turn and thought "this is strange". and yes i definatley have noticed my guys retreating.. or umm.... "Attacking in a different direction" (yeah thats it) straight into you. I didn't check the map out before we played. I knew we wanted winter so I looked saw and picked.Great Map WB!! On another note I still dont see the map when I hit view map in the purchase screen. Our game dosen't seem to be suffering from it, however it would be nice to see the map before you purchase. Pack could you see it while you were buying?? Someone told me that I should be able to see it even tho I am setting it up. Anyone know?? Hey Pack.... Tigers Die hard huh???heheheh Image

Yeah I could see it and while trying to figure out how to get a challenge going (duh Image) I could see the map on the first buy screen as well, don't know where to tell you to look for a fix nc. The Tigers do die hard, but they are shot to pieces.
