Place for Additional Scenarios ?

Post by Freigeist83 »

What is the best place to get additional scenarios for TOAW?

I see many discussions of scenarios that are discussed in the forum, which I do not find in my installation of TOAW IV (Steam Version).

Thanks for your feedback [:)]

I found this massive archive of scenes a while back, but they're all for TOAW3 so will need a run through the editor before playing, and even then no guarantee they will work as expected:

Some on Bob's site as well:

Thanks, that's very useful. [:)]

So those TOAW3 scenarios are not automatically compatible with version IV?

Are there compatibility issues due to rule changes or changes in the game engine? [X(]

I imagine it's yes to both. You can save a III scenario in the IV scenario editor so you can play it in IV but how it plays may not be the way it was designed in III.

To play a III scenario in IV, load it into the editor and save it back out again. It will then be in IV format.

As for behavior change in the scenario, that is a YMMV situation. There may be little change, or maybe some significant change. Playtesting has to gauge that.

Those scenarios should be reviewed by designers at some point for modification to correct any glaring issues, as well as take advantage of new settings available in TOAW IV.

FYI
TOAWIII scenarios can be opened in TOAW4, saved, and then played, as described above.

Be advised, however, that TOAWIII cannot open a scenario that has been saved in TOAW4.
