scenario #77 BTS-L Brian Allies Larry Japs
Well the game has officially started and here we have one of the Jap midget subs getting a torpedo into the side of an Allied BB. That's a good omen. Let's hope the rest of the game goes the same way.

This is the results of the first Pearl Strike. I sank the BB Oklahoma and the DD Allen but lots of other ships got hurt pretty good. Lots of Brian's BB's are on fire. The Allied aircraft parked there got raked over pretty good. My losses are light and I'm thinking about a second strike to rub it in.

A flight of 25 Bettys from Roi-Namer struck Wake Island and got intercepted by the Buffalos based there and lost one but got some hits on the airbase and the runway. There were 4 Buffalos damaged but I expect they will be repaired and in the air the next time I strike Wake again.

I thought it prudent to visit the Allied airfield at Iba in the PI and none of the P-40's came up to play. I damaged a lot of them on the ground. Got a lot of hits in the runway too. I aim to defeat the Allied air power in this area so that my bombers won't have to be escorted so I can move the fighters to better targets later on. Maybe a month from now.

Kota Bharu, Malaya received some Jap aircraft love and there was a grand total of one buffalo to CAP the airbase there and he got brushed aside while the bombers went to work. Lots of hits on the runway there. I don't remember right off the top of my head how much damage the runway has to take before the airbase is shut down for operations. Anybody know?

That looks like my game. Except a different BB.

Cool. The problem with the midget subs is that they rarely get a hit. Most of them flounder or get tangled in the nets or sink by hitting the rocks, etc. I haven't gotten much performance out of my midget subs either when I build some at Truk and get my midget sub carriers to load one up and then take it to an Allied port, say Pago Pago, and park it there, most of the time it gets spotted and some Allied ASW platform sinks it. I've given up on using midget subs as a waste of resources. I have yet to find a good use for barges too. That looks like my game. Except a different BB.

Here's the results of a strike on Clark Field in the PI. No Allied CAP again. I can expect one the next time I visit though. I'm wondering how long it's going to take his AF guys to fix all that damage, 23 B-17D's alone. It was a clear sky, I don't know why they got so few hits on the runway. I destroyed only 3 P-40's on the ground and that's kind of disappointing. I've got some recon planes dedicated to Clark Field so that better stats can be gathered. I have no idea how many fighters he has parked there for instance. I wonder what happened to the flak. No flak at all. Either that or nobody got hit by the flak which is a wonder in itself. 15K might be the magic altitude for Clark Field targets.

Thanks for separating this test of the Mod Larry. Spotting major issues goes over to the Mod Thread, beyond that----HAVE FUN!!!

I sent a squadron of Nells to Cagayan unescorted just to see what he has there in the way of airpower. My recon level is so low that I have no good stats on his aircraft so this raid is another way to find out. My Nells were flown by some of my most experienced pilots and brushed aside the P-26A's sent to intercept them. Nine Nells can't do a lot of damage but I did get some hits on the airbase and the runway. Brian will probably fly some P-40's here to do a better CAP for the base and move the P-26's to do training somewhere else.

Here's a strike on Alor Star by 21 unescorted Sallys and I hit some Allied aircraft on the ground and got some hits on the runway. I forgot to set the altitude to something reasonable and they went with 1200 feet and for some reason there was no flak. That's curious.

Here's a second strike on Alor Star, also with Sallys and I hit some aircraft on the ground and got some runway hits but it's obvious that the flight that went in at 1200 feet got more hits. I'm just fortunate that there was no flak.

There were lots of light bombers on this strike on Hong Kong but there's no mention of hits of anything Allied so I'm guessing my boys took a trip to the nudist beach again and forgot all about the mission. They were probably doing multiple low slow passes over the area taking pictures again. I'll send 'em an email.

Here's a strike on Georgetown and I've got to figure out a way to get more fighter escorts to go on these strikes. And I need to replace the Nates as an escort with Oscars ASAP. But I did hit some planes on the ground and got a handful of runway hits.

Here's a strike on Kuantan by some Lilys and they did a surprisingly good job. I wasn't expecting them to do this well. I've set all my Lilys to upgrade to Bettys but that will probably take a while to convert every squadron that has them.

Here's a second strike on Hong Kong but again there's no mention of hits. I need better recon I guess.

Early in the afternoon there was a second strike on Kota Bharu and this time there was a CAP set but I had escorts so my bombers got through and hit the port. I'm going to switch to the airfield as a target since there's no Allied ships there. His airpower is more of a threat right now.

Some Sonias hit Kwangchawan and got a hit on a small Allied transport there. They were unescorted and I'm thinking that there will probably be a CAP of some kind the next time I visit here.

Here's the report of the landing at Kota Bharu and my losses were very light and my supporting ships got lots of hits on the defenders which is a very good thing.
There were no morning strikes on Manila so I'm wondering if I forgot to set my mini-KB to their duty stations again. I'll check it out and see what gives.
