Roads "to" or "in" map locations?

Roads "to" or "in" map locations?

Should the player build roads on top of map locations (e.g. settlements, resources, etc.) or does building a road in an adjacent hex connect the map location to the transportation network?

Does a unit get the movement benefit moving into and out of such special map locations without a road within the location hex?

You'll notice this when you build mines and other map assets, the roads are in the hex with the buildings.
You don't need roads to what the game calls assets, like free-folk settlements or crashed cargo ships, but you do need roads to national assets, both private (what your corporations and city folk build on their own) and public (what you build) like mines and farms. A road will be built automatically to a mine or other assets, if you have the IP for it (although sometimes with weird paths). Without a road connection, national assets disappear after a while.

So you only need roads to connect your economic buildings, between zones to move supply between them and towards your forces to supply them.


Don't think so, the AP used to cross a hex depends on what's in the hex, you only use less Action Points when moving on roads and every terrain feature after that needs more AP than plains. You can see a tooltip that will tell you not only how much it'll cost you to go through the hex but if some units can't go through it (tracked in mountains)
