1.04b1 Friendship/Victory Pact issues in MP

Post by Tree Dog »

Hello,

I'm playing with a friend in MP, we signed a victory pact. A major regime declared war on me, but my friend wasn't dragged into the war at all.

Another issue is that even if he were to declare war on the same major, he couldn't help at all as they don't share a border. We can't send troops into each other's territory without starting a war, despite having the victory pact.

Your right. I am adding this to the to-do list. As this actually quite complicated to implement well. As there are many edge cases where your ally might be an ally of the one declaring war on you as well.

best wishes,
Vic

From my experience with playing Paradox games I can say:
It is a mess. A giant mess. The kind of mess nobody wants to programm for or play in.
And that is before we get to questions like "who is getting the land that A is conquering, while moving out of B's territory"?

Stellaris may have the best solution:
If you are ally of both, you are now at war with one of your allies. Usually the one that is the attacker for this war. No relationship (lasting) penalties, however - you may be fighting now, but that does not mean you are enemies.
