Bersama Lima [Spoiler]

Post by BDukes »

Hi

Just playing through some of the new CMO scenarios. In this case Sirius's Bersama Lima. Very interesting problem in this one. The enemy's SSM's out range yours and you can't fire first. Biggest threat is the Sunburns on Fuzhou.

My approach will be:

1) Set up a AAW CAP station between the Fuzhou SAG and mine. Hoping the F.3's Skyflashes can provide some line of protection. Very fast SSM so don't know if it'll work out. Set CAP to 6 assigned with 4 on station as they converge.
2) I'm pushing the Richmond to Screen the larger SAG. I want it far enough to screen but close enough to maybe get some protection from the Type 42.
3) Strike aircraft limited until they ready. In terms of timing I'm looking at they coming ready about the same time the Sunburns come in range.

Lets see how this plays out.

Should of assigned more recce out west!

Sub contact right on top of mine (Unknown SSK under/over my Sub) and very close to the CV group.

Notice the likely PLA SAG proximity as well. Not a great spot to be in.

and paid for it Turbulent got killed.

Sending Helo to hunt around Turbulence's lost site. The contact and message pointers you get when selecting log entries in great for that.

Will check out the AAR to see what actually happened but wondering if you could lua a collision by looking at the proximity of subs and using the set__explosion function or something like that. Something to think about later.

Ok no contact on the sub and an AP-3C got shot down reccing the group. Looks like another Sovremnny.

The missing sub could of been an accident. Shot down aircraft..now time to declare hostilities.

First. A Harrier Maverick Strike against western Sovremenny. Manually managed the flight path to the lowest altitude which is 300m (200m for Mavs) and swiveled the generated path around so the inbound loop wasn't in any firing arcs of the Chinese frigate.

End result- Sovremenny point defenses defeated Mavericks but Harriers were able to turn and escape. Needed to order them down to low-level during the evasion as it was putting higher which is deeper into trouble. I should have paired them with the LGB armed Harriers. Now I'm ordering them in on their own. Risky. Launch altitude of LGB is 2000 ft.

Finally some success! Ok LGB strikes worked out. Was able to 2 direct 4 Harriers onto the Western Sovremenny. Broke them into pairs and launched from different arcs. Manipulated flight paths so they wheren't flying through the frigates arcs. First GBU-24 killed it. I probably should have done different altitudes as well but didn't matter.

Sea Skua armed lynx dispatched to kill the Luhu.

Out east killed a helo and 4 Hornets armed with pairs of Harpoons are inbound on that Sovremenny. Not sure if 8 Harpoon is enough but we'll see.

Sea Skua strike on Luhu successful 4/4. Not dead but heavy flooding and fire. Shows how vulnerable earlier generations with low tech shorad is.

Now using GBU-10E Armed hornets to pick off the Chinese frigates with weak AAW. Good weapons for this. Also got to use my Maverick armed Sprite.[:)]

Managed a minor victory. Caught A Han SSN in the final stages thanks to a Merlin sonar dip in an ASW Zone NE of Ark Royal. Noisy submarine but satisfying none-the-less. The scenario ended after that kill

Overall really good scenario. I think planning out the Moskit defense and sub hunts were the most enjoyable.

My huge error was losing the SSN. It was at flank when the detection occurred-so well deserved loss. Must learn patience. Only reason the Kilo didn't survive was the proximity to its own torpedo blast.
