SE First Anniversary (+2d)

Two days ago was the one-year anniversary of the original Matrix release of Shadow Empire.

In that time, I have played non-stop, almost every day, both multiplayer and single-player.
I can say categorically, no computer game has ever captured my imagination like SE. It is an awesome balance of deep detail against reasonable play-ability. It focuses on war-game, yet provides deep economic, political and social roots. Every replay challenges the player with new and changing conditions to deal with.

Sure, we can (and should!) quibble over stuff until Vic is blue in the face. But, we do this not because the game core is weak (in that case we'd just move on), but because the core of the game is a monster among games.

Vic should be VERY proud of his accomplishment with SE.
Congratulations Vic - I hope you never tire of bolting new stuff on to this amazing project!

Same here.
I first played Shadow Empire quite recently at the start of April 2021. Since then I have played (according to steam) 673 hours. I also bought the Matrix CD version to support what I consider to be quite an accomplishment and an endeavour I hope continues.
I have given over huge portions of my life to worthwhile artworks, from Dwarf Fortress, Aurora 4x and Simutrans Extended, across determined indie efforts such as Project Zomboid and AI War Fleet Command, to outliers like Kenshi and Embark.
While all those mentionable titles are incredible in their own right, Shadow Empire is the one that has me properly appreciative of something special - an accomplishment I am still plumbing the depths of.

Likewise, Here's looking to all the new and cool stuff between now and the 2nd anniversary.
