WAW 1939-1945 PO Version 62221 Allied Human vs Axis Bot

The scenario World at War 1939-1945 now has a strong Axis PO, hereinafter called "Axis Bot" or just "Bot." The first screen shots will be an overview of the map followed by a contest of myself as Allies against the Axis Bot. If either Germany or Japan has not surrendered by turn 312, August 19, 1945, the Bot wins the contest. The scenario can also be played as an Axis Human vs an Allied Bot, however the Allied Bot is not as strong.

The scenario can also be played as a PBEM or hot seat and also can be played as Europe only. With Europe only just ignore the Pacific map and units. They do not interfere with the Europe activity.

On the first turn the Axis Bot invades Norway and Poland. The reason the Bot invades Norway on turn 1 is to deter the Allies from doing the same. There is no Phoney War in this scenario. It is recommended in the scenario briefing that neutral countries are not moved until they are invaded or under threat. The Axis Bot will do as it pleases but Italy will not enter the war and activate until Paris is taken. Japan will only fight in China until 12/7/41. Russia will not activate until 6/22/41 and the US will not activate until 12/7/41. France enters the war on turn 1 but has a slow mobilization until the Bot threatens them or the low countries. At that point they will conduct an emergency mobilization. Absent threat, France will have an historical mobilization which is relatively slow. The Bot will attack France very soon. The UK and its Commonwealth enter the war on turn 1 but have a number of units that activate over time.

On the first Turn the Bot has used air and sea movement into southern Norway.

The Bot has been able to advance with units adjacent to Warsaw. Once Warsaw falls Poland will surrender.

Here are the first moves in China. The Bot will never eliminate the Chinese but can push them away from the coast eventually. The Chinese can contribute to the war effort by taking and holding airfields close to Formosa, Okinawa and Japanese home islands.

This view shows France and the low countries. Note the BEF has moved into Holland and has set up a line to shield Holland from a surge by the bot to knock them out early. Also note Holland, Belgium and France have many units but they are not activated yet.

The front in North Afrika will remain quiet until Italy joins the war. The British units there will remain inactive until turn 40 which is the historical date Italy entered the war. So far I have never held Paris that long in testing so Italy will invade Egypt before the UK is activated. Remember there is no Phoney War period and the Axis Bot is very aggressive.

Poland is in a tough spot at this point. Most of the German units are not visible at this time to the Allied player. The Russian involvement in Poland is considered completed as you can see the excluded zones show the new borders for the Soviet Union. The Winter War in Finland is also outside the scope of this scenario.

On turn 1 Yugoslavia and Greece remain neutral. The Axis Bot has been known to send units there early which activates Yugoslavia and sometimes Greece early.

Here is the Bot view on turn 2 in the low countries. Note the Bot has enough forces to hold off the Allies as long as Poland goes down soon. The allied mobilization is relaxed and unhurried!

Alex made the map and the main concept. I did most everything else. The PO took the longest to make it competitive. The original scenario was included in TOAWIV on the date of issuance. It is only now that the PO is completed as a challenge against a human player.

We wanted to be the first to make a scenario covering all of WW2. This is our joint effort to do so.

Until Russia enters the war, things move quickly. Overall the scenario is quite playable if the suggestions in the scenario briefing are followed to save time.
