What is the points value of Victory Locations and do some locations have more value than others ?

So, is the victory score calculated by adding 1 point per turn for each victory location held? If so, how are the starting victory scores determined as I seem to remember the 1941 scenario starting with non-zero numbers.

It is calculated from 1939.

It is pretty much impossible to conquer all the Allies. The Allies can win on points or outright conquest.
For the Axis to win they need 1 country to survive AND have enough points by the end of the game.

I am considering putting in an automatic victory condition.

There are a total of 38 VP cities. On turn one neither the Axis nor the Allies have victory points. However Japan starts with 13 VP locations and the Allies have 25. At the beginning of turn two Japan will get 13 VPs for their existing locations plus 1 VP for anything they captured on turn one.

Thanks for the replies. Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd ask a follow up victory point question here: does each Allied nation have to hit its individual VP target for the Allied player to win (assuming Japan survives until the end of the game)? I'm assuming so, but I thought I'd check in case I've missed something.

I think a VP total is made at the end to compare Axis vs Allies. So one country may perform badly compared to history.

Individual is just for comparison. It is the total that counts.

It would be nice to be able to see a combined Allies running VP total, and also aggregate Allied VP targets, in that case as I don't think I've seen that anywhere.

Thanks. I'm about 20 turns into two PBeM games, and to add to this, it would be nice to see:
- How many VPs were gained last turn, and;
- A projection of a final score by the end of the game.

So, something like, "Axis 539 (+19, 1900) Allies 459 (+19, 1850)". I'm doing this manually now, but it would be good if the game could do it for me. Keeping a track of this helps with planning and tempo.
