Ger Strategy Summer 1943 - Stalingrad or Maikop?

Post by matchwood »

It's early summer, 1943 as Ger. Have just completed and cleared a large encirculement of Sov troops at Rostov. Should I go East to Stalingrad and cut the rail line to the East of the city? Or, should I g south and take oil centres such as Maikop?

Basically, what would cripptle Sov more - reducing supplies to the South or taking the oil centres? Would cutting the rail line to the south make a big difference or would the south still be supplied (at a reduced level) via ports?

Advice appreciated!

Oil is not important in the game unfortunately.
Baku is a supply source so cutting rail only stops troop movements.

Overall frontline and OOB would be useful. Oil doesn't matter nor does supy usually. You should go for the manpower centers.

Take Stalingrad and cut the RR from Baku up the Caspian Sea to Stalingrad. The port in-between becomes useless.

This really hurts Russian positioning all along the rr line from Stalingrad to Baku as the Russians end up with very long supply lines.
