Question RE: Grenada Scenario

Post by MonagFam »

I will apologize in advance for a dumb question. I don't have the game handy and I'm sure I didn't read or misread some aspect when I played.

The Grenada Scenario really jumped out because it was such a small-scale map and, as the US, I felt way superior. I was (though my first time, the world hated my war-mongering ways and I only achieved a draw) and eventually emerged victorious.

During the game, there was a time when a couple new units popped up. I thought they were airmobile and I treated them like any other unit. Then I looked and I thought it was only comprised of civilians. Did I send a civilian group into pitched battles? What were those units and was I supposed to do something different with them?

Thank you!

Re: the civilians, read the scenario briefing. They represent the students and the governor-general. The events give points for occupying the hex they're in (rescue) and deducts points if those units are destroyed by the communist side.

Yeah, I think the unit icon should probably be "CIV" vice airmobile.

Cheers

Thank you! I had a feeling that is what it was. I am sitting here laughing about my decision to send them into battle. My first time doing the scenario I didn't allow media access and sent the unarmed civilians I was rescuing into pitched battles where I think some died. No wonder, despite wiping the enemy out, I only managed a draw.

I really need to read the scenarios and get a feeling for the makeup of each unit!
