No Sound?

Post by ETF »

Just started another PBEM game. Using one of the Babes maps not extended. Everything looks good however on my first combat report Dec 8th there is no sound during my combat report :(
Check preferences and sound is at 5 (music is at 0). Rebooted and ran the combat report again (USA Dec 8th) no joy.

Any suggestions? Think it could be a switch I used from the forum?

Hope all are well my friends.

Some programs that interpret the sounds do not recognize the older sound file format in AE. As I understand it, the game uses your computer's sound program, not it's own embedded program. You could try opening your computer's sound program and then navigate to the game's sound files and try and open them.

That is true, you might have to download Windows media player or a compatible program.
I think that Windows 10 and 11 do not include it in their distribution package.

I wonder anything re. my switch? Have Media player installed works fine on my PC.

"D:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -fd -altFont -cpu3 -dd_sw -multiaudio -px1920 -py1080 -deepColor -skipVideo

Multi audio maybe?

I have never found a need for the multiaudio switch. Just try removing it and run the game to see if that changes anything. You can always put it back if you decide you need it.

Sometimes it happens that when I start a game in the first game the sound does not work and when I load another game it works normally. But I don't think the sound matters, I'd rather play some of my playlists - power metal

The game does give some info via sound bites - mine hits, ships/subs sinking and "Carriers Spotted" messages. Oh, and not to be missed - the invaluable information from Orphan Anne about how many carriers and battleships you have lost when your DDs sank a PB and an xAK!
