As the title says. Thank you very much for WEGO WW2 Stalingrad. It really is an epiphany for Wego-Lovers and will surely find new players in the IGOUGO games-crowd.

I have to point out on fact which really suprises me. In the best way.
Brian, you got rid off so much annoyances and laborious work often found in other, mostly long time series. Which often leads to drive off possible new wargamers.
Just a few examples:
- Unit selection in a big stack -> often cumbersome in many games. Not here. Easy, simple, efficient. Great.
- Navigation through lower and higher echelons. It was never easier to find subordinates or accoring HQs. I love it.
- Context sensitive Hotkeys. For example the R key for different views depending on the selected unit.

Just a few examples and that doesn`t sound like much. But even for me, as a seasoned Wargamer used to bulky UIs, these are really long time needed adjustements and overhauling of decades of old mechanisms many of us are got used to. But you clearly show. Complex wargames can be played more efficently. Giving us more time to think about the actual operational procedures and playing a game instead of working around labourious caked mechanism.

Bravo!

As a big wargaming fan and follower of the big German wargaming specialist and streamer "Der Hobbygeneral" I fully agree to this statement.
Wargames are often very complicated (but I love this too) and players are overwhelmed with unit stacks and a bunch of not so logical hotkey.

I'm thinking about translating the whole game to German that you will reach all the interested people in German countries which are not so good in English or won't lern military vocabulary.

I'm looking foreward for a STEAM version because I need to know how much time I spend in Stalingrad :D

You're welcome! Thanks! Always great to hear someone likes the game!

Years back, I used to play those old Atomic V4V games like Crusader and Stalingrad and there was no modern equivalent so as I code in the day job, I thought I'd give it a go. Now I know why there's no too many WEGO games! It makes it a lot more complicated!

About the UI too, I'm always open to new suggestions on how to improve it. All the improvements I've made are from user feedback, so I hope to continually improve it!

Cheers, :)

That'd be great if you could do that!
Many thanks,

Back in the 60s I played Stalingrad by Avalon Hill (one of many) with my older brother endless times, from elementary school well into high school. My brother passed 16 years ago. About two years ago I was looking for an Eastern Front strategy game, but it had to be WEGO and it couldn't be too complicated. Needless to say I didn't find it. Then the other day I received an email from Matrix Games about this release. I downloaded the manual, watched a YouTube review and decided to give it a try. After becoming familiar with the game's basics I started one of the scenarios. I have to say, from what I was looking for, you've hit the sweet spot. So yes, thank you, not only for the game, but also for bringing back some fond memories of time spent with my brother.

Funny I was just about to post a 'Thank You' thread as well when I saw this one. Should not be a surprise one already existed. I've played hundreds of war games board and computer. As a computer war games goes this one actually fits a niche that has been missing. It's got a similar board game feel, but obviously WEGO. The depth as I read the manual, continues to surprise me. I never got a chance to play the 1st WEGO installment, 'Desert War', but there's a good chance I will now.

Looking forward to this game engine evolving over time as more WEGO titles are released. I do like the idea of campaigns with linked scenarios, but maybe in the future there can just be a campaign without linked scenarios?

As a dev myself, can I suggest adding more of a favor with cards to influences re-playability as choices expanded as you get different cards in 'hand'. Many board war games do this very well with a partial or full card system mechanic.

thanks again for a wonderful game!

I just wanted to add that a lot of computer war games fall short when it comes to battle results. IMO this should be a big focus as it's a climax point for players. WEGO Stalingrad excels here as it presents the players with lots of information and images related to the battle results.

Cheers for that, but I have to mention John Duquette who did all the scenario work! The game is a team effort between me and John!
Thanks,
Brian
