Gettysburg Maps

Post by MarkST »

Hi guys,
I make a lot of the larger maps for Gettysburg, and can do maps for Waterloo.
There are many in the stream so to speak. I am glad to see the game thriving here.
As of this moment I cannot function on the Norbsoft site. Hard to log in and impossible to post.

REBUGLER: if you see this, the utility "MapTool" is not functioning. Apparently when created, it is not a stand alone utility.
It is searching for the server to update, which, as we know, is having difficulty. This utility saves HOURS of work. added to the hundreds of hours to create a single map, it is almost impossible to make a map.. If the Norbsoft site goes down, maps stop! Please let me know if this can be either re-linked or made stand alone... I am virtually stopped.

Any map questions guys? I will try to answer as I can.

Hey Mark

Glad to hear from you. Regarding posting on the NSD site, have you seen and tried this solution?
Posting Messages & Replying - NOTIFICATION

Just recently a spam-check has been added to our NSD website regarding message posting. Please note the following:

When posting messages or replying to them, you must answer a simple math question before you can 'Submit' your message. The issue is, whether you post an attachment or not, you must click 'Attachments' to see and answer the 'spam check' question. If you don't, you won't be able to 'Submit' your message. Once you click 'Attachments' and answer the question, there's no need to hit Return or anything else, just select 'Submit' to post your message.
Regarding the issue with the utility "MapTool", I'll refer it to Norb. He's doing what he can to fix up the NSD site. Meanwhile, this Matrix site will have to do.

Reb, Good to hear from you too.
Yea, figured out the login stuff, but it still took me a dozen times to log in AFTER I added 2 and 2 :).

The maptool thing is Huge. I have a massive Chickamauga / Chattanooga map in the works. Dont want to hand check.
ANYWAY MapTool shouldn't be tied to Norbsoft if it is free. It kinda contradicts Norb philosophy on the Game.

Keep me posted..

I am a very late buyer of SOWGB.
Now in the last few months I am discovering and enjoying GB and WL, and I see your many maps on the forum.
Above all I am very happy to read that you are still developing maps.
Well, I am still searching in the NSD forum and I have to say that sometimes is difficult to understand which maps are the "last version" of a map etc., there are many links etc
So maybe it would be great if you could (no urgent, when you have the time ...) have a list and links of the maps you created, that would be great.

I am not able to post on NSD (I tried with RebBugler tips but not working for me) so, if I can give a suggestion, this forum could be the "new forum" for GB (and WL too), but someone (maybe RebBugler) should post on that forum to let people know that there is a new forum here.

Maybe the sim is old, but it's great, and I think that with an easy to access forum, more people could come back and post again.
My personal experience was that I tried but with a "no-posting" forum I gave up ... then after months tried again and gave up again and so on ... so many months were lost, and I think that more "new" user of the last few years (like me) are discouraged because of that
the game is great but sometimes you need some answers to your doubts, so a working forum is a must to maintain the game alive
