Decisive victory(Plan Martin)

Post by qwer1551 »

Image
On December 26, the main allied force had been wiped out, with only a few regimental units remaining,

Cut off from supplies or outnumbered, they will soon be surrounded

In the campaign,
I focus on two places

The first is to break through Malmedy to SPA, and then from SPA to VERVIERS.

Second, the 2nd, Lehr, and 116th Armored Divisions were transferred to the south to concentrate on destroying the Allied forces in the south. And then on to Bastone

Among them, breaking through SPA is the most important. After breaking through SPA and VERVIERS, the Allied flanks are completely exposed.
This cuts the Allied supply line from south to north

So, are you saying that 47th & 58th Pz Corps(minus the infantry divisions) are deployed to the 7th Army sector?

Thanks for reporting !
Remenber the final VP ?
If possible could be interesting to see a final frontline image.
I am still working on fine tuning Plan Martin both 64 and 128 turns !

My computer is at home and I am not at home, I remember VP was 600 or 605 on December 26 (date of the picture)
It's not reach the end of the time yet

My experience with the German Campign is

Strategically:
on the northern side of the map, the Germans do not have the ability to attack AACHEN, or even hold what they have. The biggest StrategicalChance VS AI is in the middle and south, I wouldn't have had a chance against human players, the Allies have a big advantage (and historically).

I am playing challenging difficulty,If the AI attacks more aggressively, the German 15 ARMY in the north will be completely wiped out

The Germans rely heavily on March Mode for quick maneuvers and even cannot rest during the first few day-nights ,to break through key points (before allied reinforcements arrive).

Tactically:
the advantage of the Highland Hex To the Lowland Hex may have been set too high,
and I could attack and defeat the stronger forces in Lowland with obviously weaker forces on the highland

Both sides need to artillery-prepare before the attack, otherwise the attacker will lose a lot of troops and equipment, and likely unable to attack successfully
It is very dangerous to leave artillery support,
Relying on artillery for support, When I was playing The german, the main force was actually restricted to follow the highway (orange road)

In addition,
when I switched from Combat mode to March Mode, the system always made me click OK/YES (switching cost 25 AP are you sure?) every time
It would be more convenient if there was a setting ICON to ignore this

- II SS Pz.Korps (9SS + 2SS ) can be deployed north in the first 3 turns;
- Reduced the cost for 10SS, 11PZ, 25PZG;
- Added two SS units historically reforming in the rear area (27ss Langemark + 28ss Wallonie) active if US units at 10 hexes;

I tried this earlier a few times, but going Malmedy, Spa and Verviers was a good choice. Moving as fast as possible in the middle and in the south, and using a lot of Kampfgruppes to cut enemies off. Slowly retreating up north behind the second river, where I kept 9th SS as reserve. Lehr was south the whole time, felt a bit wasted ending up holding the line with 10th SS and lots of infantry I hope I would have been able to free up Lehr but couldn't.
Final points 364 VP, got well beyond both Maastricht and Liege.

Final screenshots of the troops.
