Waterloo: The Hunters scenario - Allied

I have now played this scenario upwards of 20 times and I have found it to be unwinnable in its present configuration. DarkRob316 offered the best solution in his Youtube video, which was to put the companies in the wood into skirmish formation. However, he must have made the video using an earlier version of the game for when I try this with the latest version (v1.02 vanilla ) all I get a message informing me that the unit is too small to split!!

It seems to me that in this case the problem is that improvements to the game have resulted in an unbalanced scenario. It would seem from this that there are now two solutions. The first is to change the victory conditions. the second is to tweak the scenario to make the reinforcements arrive 5 minutes or so earlier.

Let's go with option 2. In the absence of a scenario editor, I will need to change a line of coding. Unfortunately, I don't know which line or what to change. Could you please explain what I should do?
