Should I buy Red Storm Or Wait for Southern Storm

This game looks very interesting but I'm worried about spending $50 when it sounds like the new and improved version will come out any day now. Any thoughts?

If cash is tight, wait on a sale here or on Steam (they tend to happen together). If things go well, the new game will be out late fall/early winter.

Too late! I ended up getting the game and I'm having a blast.

I never had much interest in the Cold War until Combat Mission came out with the Cold War module. I played it a ton but I started to feel like it didn't convey this kind of fast moving warfare properly. I remember hearing about this game a while back and searched for it again.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. Making it hex based cuts down on the fiddly aspects of Combat Mission so I can focus on the strategy. In particular, the implementation of artillery is probably my favorite in any war game.

Can't wait for the new installment.

Glad you are enjoying the game. We are hard at work getting the new game engine, and Southern Storm cleaned up and documented (a major effort in its own right) for a release later this year.
