[1273.1] Flight plan is changed when Air Tasking Order button is clicked.

Post by deep42 »

(You should have set:Mapsettings->Flightplans->All)

1. Open the attached save
2. Open the Mission Editor (F11)
3. Select misson Recon and select flight Horse6 under "Units assigned to mission"
4. The map shows the flightplan for the Recon mission. (BTW, the flight plan has been edited in the Flight Plan Editor.)
5. Select the "Flight Plan" tab in the lower right pane.
6. As soon as you now click the button "Air Tasking Order (ATO)" the flight plan will be changed.

Weird: If you reload the savegame and perform the steps again, the flight plan will not be changed.

Change how? If it is changing, then it must be pretty subtle. I'm not noticing any change. Perhaps I'm not doing something correctly.

I have noticed, not with this scenario, that I will often have the AI create a path, and then when I try to alter it, especially with time-related issues, the whole path will ignore my changes and revert back to the original without me knowing it.

Additionally, I have noticed that the editor often uses different altitudes and speeds than those desired. For instance, you are requesting a 1000 foot flyover, but the program drops the plane to 200. And, you will often indicate that you want a plane to fly at Afterburner until this waypoint ad then switch to Cruise. The Flight Planner will occasionally ignore what you indicated and fly back to the base on Afterburner.

Quite frankly, I haven't figured out the idiosyncrasies of the Flight Planner as of yet. Just when I think that I have it down, it doesn't something completely unexpected. I believe that it must be some kind of systematic pattern that must be applied in the same manner each time.

But, for you, I'm not seeing what you are talking about.

Here are two screenshots: One before the click on the Air Tasking Order Button and one immediatly after the click. I hope these help clarify the behavior.

Yes, among other idiosyncrasies I've seen this too, for example when a mission is executed a second time, it often uses the original flight plan. But this is not consistent between different missions, so it is difficult to report.

Yes, I just had the situation that you described with a test situation that I am working on. It's annoying. I REALLY HATE having to redo all of these flight paths.

I can see WHAT it is doing, but I don't know WHY.

The ATO button may cause one thing, and fuel/altitude/path may cause another.
