Public beta - Build 1284.1 seems slower

Post by konstpan »

For long time now I've been playing 1.04 and thought to give public beta - Build 1284.1 a try.

Regardless of any goodies, seemed slower in UI responsiveness but in processing too.

Is it my idea or others share same feeling?

I've certainly felt that the last couple beta versions have reduced performance. Setting time compression to 5x or 15x shows almost no speed increase over realtime. It's red flame or nothing.

Objective measurements and specific examples please. We cannot investigate "feels".

I can confirm.

There is NO difference between 1x and 15x speed, the clock is still ticking 1 second at a time.

Only switching to the little fire icons seems to do anything with regards to game speed.

You can't make any general statements about speed without at least a mention of the scenario you are judging you're opinion on. In very large and intense scenarios, only the flame ratios that have all time programmed governors removed will provide any time compression. And also a mention of the system you are testing should be provided. PCs aren't bottomless pits of energy and performance and there is an obvious upper limit of scenario size that even the most robust system will struggle with.

Its easy to set up a benchmark scenario and run a couple tests. Using uppercase letters does not by itself make it objective.
