Now I recognise that weight does matter when one travels the logistics network through Strategic movement. But when it comes to normal movement still seems strange to me that a 300mm howitzer (650 weight) can move just as far as a 25mm howitzer (50 weight). When motorisation is factored in, both can be pulled by the same light diesel truck with 200 engine power without penalty to the larger calibre. The rules of weight v engine power apply to wheeled and tracked vehicles, but for some reason not for towed units.
This means there's no real incentive to upgrade Motorized Transport, as I would have the best truck at the start of the game (most of the time) since I would have the "Extremely overpowered engine" bonus. There would be even less so for smaller calibre weapons, as the only thing I would need to worry about when using the highest calibre is their cost and ammo upkeep.
