Is it even possible to maintain a Govt Profile at 40+?

Post by Overlord015 »

Like the title says, just came back to the game to play with the new DLC, having fun so far. Now I do remember that maintaining a high government score was pretty hard in the past even if you lucked out and got the syndic church at the start. But now even with that, as soon as I start interacting with MTHs at the mid and late game it becomes effectively impossible to keep it above 30 as most events I'm getting boost either commerce or enforcement every turn. Especially so when a MTH decides to beg you for pops and/or IP for multiple rounds in a row. It's kinda frustrating TBH.

Yes,

Quite easily actually. In my current game I got Mind and the money one both at 60+ the entire game. Also Democracy normally ends high for me too. It just depends on the choices you make, and a willingness to change your strategy. If your factions want a thing and you give it to them, normally it pays off and you can keep it up. might not be the profile you wanted, but it is the profile you got :)

Late game you can kill/sack leaders and have more influence over the factions, but early game is rolling the punches :)

I think Overlord means the Society profile "Government" as in Government, Commerce, Enforcement.

I can't say I've tried a high govt run on a oceanic high-MTH interaction planet. You may be right that MTH events tend to push you in either a commerce or enforcement direction - that jives with my experience.

It's somewhat tricky to get the government profile up with the MTH events. Though if you push your taxes high enough you'll regularly get the 'People are protesting against High Taxes event' which has the options to push more government profile.

I was playing a Meritocracy, Government, Mind as main profile and that seemed to work most of the time.

Sure it got a little tedious to get those messages but by the end my governors had the oratory skills to sell ice to a polar bear by the end so the unrest only really went up in my recently conquered stuff.

Thnx for the input everyone. Yes i was talking about the Govt society profile. I was able to more or less make it work, although I instead relied on giving cash to an alien minor I kept alive to keep it up instead, I rarely go full planned economy so I never get to the point that I can exploit the noted event LeoMPanther. I somehow ended up with regime feats in all three society categories by the end of the game lol.

When the MTH offers an alliance, tell them "Not now, come back next time" indefinitely. That'll raise Gov

Like most things, it needs focus to succeed.
Because Commerce suppresses Government, it's ~twice more important than raising Gov, to take negative Comm at every opportunity, and avoid positive Comm like the plague !

Also, your level of Gov determines how much taxing your population can stand, it would be a shame not to use that opportunity ! (If needed, you can always give it back to the private sector using the Zone Public Budget.)
