Armor

Post by Dereck »

I am basing these calculations on the Soviets having a total of 6 Tank Armies which is the number I located in the editor.

I determined that from April 1942 to September 1942 the Red Army can have 6 Tank Armies (dependent on HQ availability) each consisting of 3 Tank Corps. From September 1942 onward it would be 6 Tank Armies each consisting of 2 Tank Corps and 1 Mechanized Corps with 6 independent Tank Corps available.

That means, at a minimum, I only need 36 Tank, 24 Motorized and 12 Mechanized brigades.

With truck usages in mind (which I haven't been able to calculate since I haven't been able to create any yet) my questions are:

Question 1:
Is it feasible to only use the brigade sized units to create the on-map Corps and leave the tank regiments, tank battalions and later arrival of the self-propelled artillery and tank destroyer units as sufficient for the role of support units?

Question 2:
Would there be any need for any more than the 6 independent Tank Corps which will be available after the Tank Army composition changes after September 1942?

Thanks

USS Midway CV-41 (1981-1984)

Derek
You listed Midway in 81-84 under Navy service.
My brother was on the Midway too. He was on flight deck fueling ops, a grape I believe.
His name is Patrick Carroll
