DEEPTYPHOON (ALLIES) vs STJEAND (AXIS)
I've played STJEAD a couple games now and been beaten to a bloody pulp. But I think this game has had a few updates since the last AAR so someone might find this useful.
Anyway...
"Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy..." Japanese in the Phillipines. And of course there is the oil. Bugging out of Burma.

I occupied Milne Bay and went to occupy Buin but didn't have the distance. That transport came under air attack so I couldn't undo the move. He'll surely sink that embarked tiny unit on his turn. Speed bumps. These moves are a little more in earnest as I'd like to hold him above Namuga. South east of Pearl he raids the convoy lane and sinks eight transports. Not much can be done with that now. I can lose Austraila and New Zealand but I can't lose India. And he will move to isolate India as fast as possible. Every scrap of metal possible will be sent to India and every drop of oil to the UK until that front stabilizes. In China most headed west.

The retreat from Burma continues with the Japanese hot on my heels. He's made no move to take Port Moreseby. The Chinese front. The losses.

A thin blue line awaits the crash of fire and steel. STJEAD is wrapping up his campaigns for the Phillipines and Dutch East Indies.

Division don't have ZOC. Small corps are better to slow the movement rate of the Japanese.
Good luck.

He doesn't like me holding Namuga. Changsha is given up and a Chinese army gets cut off. And that's not good.

The battleship Yamato and others raid India's convoy route. They sink 10 merchants and 1 escort.
Little does the Yamato and her crew know that one day the Yamato will save the Earth itself.

Slaughter in the Indian convoy route. Twenty-four merchants go to the bottom. The garrison on Namuga is starved into submission. It looks like STJEAND wants all of Papau New Guinea. Is an invasion of Australia planned? A defense of Calcutta will not be attempted. I will retreat into the interior of India.

Port Moresby is lost. And the Allies night raid the Japanese blockading fleet at Milne Bay with inconclusive results. Another night engagemnt takes place around the Coral Sea at Ndeni with no blood drawn by either side. Disaster in the India convoy route as twenty-nine merchants are sunk and one escort.

Japanese land on an undefended Suva island. A victory hex. As the Japanese fleet carriers are busy wreaking havoc in the Indian Ocean, the US carrier force was free to deliver a blow to some Japanese ships. STJEAND abandoned his blockade of Milne Bay. The Allies night blockade Port Moresby and Namuga. Japanese make a landing on India's eastern coast at Madras. Merchant shipping in the Indian ocean continues to be devastated.

The Yanks are landing in Bombay. Due to the ravaging of India's merchant fleet I'd say it's impossible for India to survive without strong US support.

Japanese planes from Papau New Guinea raid Australian ports sinking the British carrier Indomitable and American cruiser San Francisco. In the last two turns I have lost one fleet carrier and two cruisers for little return. I will need to do better. STJEAND has used two air resupply missions to keep Port Moresby in supply. My night blockade of Port Moresby has been a constant presence.

Allied aircraft from Milne Bay strike Guadalcanal and bottom one Japanese destroyer. British battleships engage Japanese destroyers in a night action around Namuga. Two Japanese destroyers are sunk. Japanese submarines finish off what's left of merchant shipping in the Indian Ocean

All quiet on the Chinese front. And that's what I want. An anvil. Can China and India hold out? If they can the war is half won. I just want them to act as anvils. That's it. Nothing more. Just survive. The Americans, British, New Zealanders and Austrailans will be the hammers.

If not already done, buy AAA guns, plenty of AAA guns to protect your ports.DeepTyphoon wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 1:21 am

Nice AAR. I am following.
