Allied Grand Strategy begins on turn 1. Bribe the Finns! Joint Chiefs of Staff determine the objective of this game is to swing MPP to Russia via the UK. London will be kept safe this game, the convoys open, and UK will invade Finland and Sweden (each mine is worth 5 MPP in the Nordiics vs the usual 2) while swinging Finland Allied.

Poland fell on turn one, France mistepped a bit and German punched through Maginot. Popped a German Corps, but all France did was provide some Diplo chits. Worth it! Finland swings Allied! For once, I get a MPP game where Russia doesn't have to deal with the Northern Strategy ... I'm feeling confident.

All quiet in North Africa. Axis could easily swoop into NA, clear the place out. I planned on bailing on turn one, but Elvis has not pushed forward. Probably avoiding sending MPP down south and getting too stretched out. Having to spend 500 MPP as Germany early on for Diplo on DEI shrinks the war-economy for Germany, but is a total power move for Japan.

In China, I have changed my strategy completely than how I normally play. This time, I sell research chits, invest in only IW and AA. All my units stay out of the carrier no-go zones (or else will be bombed). MPP are used to re-purchase Chinese Armies. Full out attacks every turn, give the Japanese no rest. This turn, Japan almost loses 3 armies, one SF that retreated, and takes a battered hit on an HQ. Those Communist vet Chinese Troops do not mess around.

Unfortunately Japan has diplo-ed DEI. Couldn't afford to try to block, already invested in Finland. This will be a spicy game. UK will probably need to send carrier fleets to India to stop the monster Japan this game.

State of the Game:

Soviet troops move west. Traditionally, my USSR is full out attacking and bruising the Wehrmacht. This time, the German and Italian have left Afrika. USSR will be SMACKED. I'm still figuring out how to approach the defences but I think I will do a static. Almost no counter-attacks. German took Lithuania and will have a faster punch in the North, but loss of Finland to Allies will be deterrent. Allied bombers in Finland will destroy German troops in the swamps.

With Finland Allied, UK can now prepare for "Northern Wind." Normally, Axis have three convoys running from the Nordics - worth about 75 MPP a turn. Northern wind will push this to the UK.

Testing against the AI, this is what the UK must conquer. Spies!

Allies expect Norway to take 3 turns to fall, and Sweden 4. If all goes to plan, both will be under UK rule by Dec '41. This will provide solid cover for Allied Invasion and bombing runs into the heartland of the Reich.

Allies send heavy Maritime defences to deter any axis paratroops / AVL invasion of Finland.

Maritime bombers, hit German navy, forces a retreat. Will raid the Swedish convoy line. Hopefully all three of these down will force Germany into a MPP crunch.

Urals begin production, UK sends all MPP to Russia.

US at 51% mobilization. Heavy Japanese movement seen near India. I suspect a full blown Japanese invasion of Egypt, Iraq, Iran, and Australia. Elvis knows I like to ignore Japan and hit Germany hard, so no doubt he has a counter strike planned.

Heavy german armor smashes into Dneiper and crosses. Elvis has maxed the purchase of artillery and is slowly shelling the Russian entrenchments. Russians die every turn, but slowly the tanks are taking chip damage. Eventually he will have to have a turn to repair them as they are strength 6/7.

Allies prepare for Northern Storm, Norway at 99%. German Naval units spotted near Keil. Maritime bombers shifted to new position. Ground attack bombers re-fitted with Naval weapons to deter any sortie. No Jutland for Germany.

Russian are dug in - full entrenchment. No counter-attacks. USSR hoping for an early winter and bad weather. If the Germans have to attack with tanks, every turn they attack is a turn closer to the MPP engine of the allies advancing. By not attacking Soviets decrease the hexes taken, per turn. Normally I do not do this, but trying a new approach of hyper-static defences.

The only danger is a potential encirclement of AGC (as was historical) and the diagonal drive on Moscow that is opened.

In India, research progresses. India has received IT 2, which really helps! Japanese AVL and naval vessels have been spotted, no doubt planning multiple pronged attacks now that DEI is Axis.
