I manually deleted the folders, but the installer thinks it's still installed.

Several months ago I manually deleted the folder for CSME. Today I tried to reinstall the game but the installer is saying I have an earlier version installed. I checked and confirmed that no folders or files for CSME remain on my system. I then checked my control panel for uninstalling programs and saw that CSME was still listed. When I go to uninstall from there it is saying the folder and specifically the uninstall.xml is missing, which tracks since the directory was deleted. How do I fix this?

You'll probably have to reinstall it again (even thought it says it is there, just do so). Even the 2.00 installer listed in the thread below will be fine.

If you're knowledgeable enough to use regedit to go into the Windows database you can look for the JTME entry and delete it, but if you don't know what regedit is, don't, you can mess up your computer if you make a mistake. Also, you could try a registry cleaner like ccleaner (free), but always have a backup first in case it breaks anything. Both options should be tried AFTER doing what Jason suggested.

Solutions to similar problems in other games.

Update the game, then uninstall properly and install.

Specific registry cleaner, if you are confident enough you may edit and apply it to your personal game configuration, or better ask Matrix to create one for you.
