WTF is wrong with your website?

Post by 76mm »

It keeps saying I'm entering invalid credentials...even though I logged in fine yesterday. So I change my password, can log in, then whenever I try to put something on my wishlist, it asks me to log in again...and the very same credentials I just logged in with are invalid. This has been going on for 30 minutes or so, I give up.

1) There is/was a lot of SPAM being posted so that may have been part of the problem. Did you report any of that?
2) I don't think that "WTF" means "Way To Fly" or anything like that.
3) Clear your cache . . .
4) Reboot your machine . . .
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

How would reporting spam fix the log in problem? On the other hand, when I click on "To get support please login to your account and go to Helpdesk", which I would expect to solve the problem, I can't log in, because, you guessed it, it says my credentials are invalid. So I can log into the forum with my invalid credentials, but nothing else, including the store.

Yes, I cleared my cache and cookies, didn't help.

Not great.

I used to have similar problems. I contacted tech support, they cleaned things up, and provided me with universal log in account & new password.

I've had the "universal log in" for years. generally no problems until the last few days. I still can't log into the store. Contacted tech support, have not heard back yet.

I still can't log into the store, despite contacting Matrix support. I have to say that this is incredibly frustrating, I've spent hours trying different permutations. Can't log in on my iPad at all, at least on on desktop I can log into the forum.

Is it possible you have some kind of malware on your computer that you picked up somehow over the past few days?

Maybe the site doesn't like you and tries to distance itself from you?

download the free chrome browser, and use that instead of edge browser, that will def work, and once logged in will likely fix the other browser to

No, I finally figured out the problem myself, without any help from Matrix support: the problem was that on the Matrix forum, when you change your password, you can include non-alphanumeric characters (such as @) in the password. Since this is 2023, I always include such characters in my passwords. But the problem is that the passwords for the the Matrix store DO NOT ALLOW alpha-numeric passwords. So when I changed my password here on the forum, with non-alphanumerics, it worked here but would not let me log into the store.

Seems like a pretty gross oversight to allow people to enter passwords on one website that don't work on another "unified" website. Matrix tech support was not helpful, all they could do was suggest (1) resetting my password (2) clearing my cookies and (3) trying a different browser.

The site might be sentient, you know. Try asking them for some kind of explanation. Maybe you hurt his/her feelings somehow and that's why they're acting up...?

Wow! Well done! Sounds like Matrix and Slitherine need to hire you in their tech support department. :)

I passed this on to Matrix tech support and suggested that they fix it, but they didn't even acknowledge my e-mail. Not impressed.
