Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
I've updated to the newest version 1.00.35, and since then both my old save from previous version and new save made in this version, I can't access the almanac detail of the right most country at all, tried with Japan and Germany (haven't tried with other countries, but I believe it will result the same) with all starting year and it just won't open. And also I've uninstalled and installed the game, clear the data, deleting all old save, but even when starting new save, or loading save made in new version, I got this error.

Thanks for the report, we'll investigate.
Do you mind uploading the save you've been seeing this on?

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
This screenshot happened when I'm about to start a new save (with all 9 save slots empty), while the old save from the previous version are deleted and cache cleared (due to uninstall/install "solution" I thought of) and dumb me forgot to backup it...

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
No problem. If you're able to reproduce and get a save next, please upload it.

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
I've just made a random new save, and I can confirm it's still got that same "use old save directories" error both through both LOAD SAVE and CONTINUE button... (And NEW GAME too!)
Tried to revert to public 1.00.27, and didn't get any save error for both save made in 1.00.35 and save made in 1.00.27
Revert back to 1.00.35 and get the error for all save data

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
We haven't seen other reports like this, so there may be a system-specific issue at play. Have you tried verifying your files? Have you tried doing a clean reinstall? Double-check your anti-virus software as that may also cause unexpected interference.Panzerfausst wrote: Wed Feb 07, 2024 3:25 pm I've just made a random new save, and I can confirm it's still got that same "use old save directories" error both through both LOAD SAVE and CONTINUE button... Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
I've verified the files and it's all okay, done clean reinstall too (twice). Same goes with antivirus, it's just weird that this happened in 1.00.35 and it's just worked fine in 1.00.34

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
We did make a change in 1.00.35 that changes the save location to the following: C:\USER\Documents\My Games\Rule the Waves 3. This may be causing the problems you're seeing.
Are you using the Steam version or the Matrix standalone version of the game?

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
I'm using the steam version, I believe so, when I checked that location, there's only a launcher folder which contain only 2 items: LauncherSettings.Config and log.txt and no save folder/file whatsoever
P.S. My current saves are located on D:\Steam\steamapps\common\RuleTheWaves3 (Yes, all my games are installed on D drive and not C drive)

Hey, we just released a new public beta today v1.00.36 that has some changes and fixes to save locations and Steam Cloud. You can find the notes for the update here: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 6&t=400231Panzerfausst wrote: Fri Feb 09, 2024 2:50 pm I'm using the steam version, I believe so, when I checked that location, there's only a launcher folder which contain only 2 items: LauncherSettings.Config and log.txt and no save folder/file whatsoever

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
Could you let us know where your User\Documents\MyGames folder is?
Also, could you please give us a DxDiag report?

I have updated to the newest 1.00.36, and unfortunately it's still the same thing with the save problem (another clean install)
Here are the path to your requested folder: C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games
I''ve also attached the DxDiag below

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
Thanks for the report and the info.
There are a few more questions we have for you that might help figure out what's going on:
1. Are you still able to load save files when you get the error message or are you unable to save/load altogether?
2. What kind of anti-virus software are you using?
3. Are you running the game with admin privileges turned on or off?
4. Could you please take a look at your Windows Explorer and see how much memory there is on your C drive? Windows can start behaving strangely if there's not enough space on different drives.
5. Have you tried downloading the latest Windows Update? Are you able to install it? If you're able to install the latest update do you still run in to this issue?

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
Answering your questions:
1. No problem with new/load/continue function, it will work normally (except the popout saying old path)
2. Plain windows defender
3. It's turned on
4. Around 20 GB remaining, should I free up more space?
5. Just a couple hours ago downloaded a cumulative windows update, still running with this issue.

Thanks for the info!
For #4 - yes, if it's not too much of a hassle, do you mind clearing up some space and seeing if that resolves the issue.

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
Hello! I am on .36 and just the read/write issue is occurring to me. I am running the standalone version
The game also loads in as a tiny window bar, all my preferences are reset, and the default ship and map colours are all blacked out. This occurs every launch. I am however able to save and load games to the old directory in the game.
As for the questions you asked panzerfausst
* Loading is fine except for above issue
* Windows Defender+Malwarebytes
* Admin on
* 91GB
* windows updated; issues predated update
I have, however, shifted the default documents folder to my storage disk to keep free space on my boot disk (91gb free there).

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
Thanks for the report. We recently released 1.00.37 as a public beta. Have you tried this version of the game? Are you still able to reproduce the issue?

Re: Almancac Not Working (and save problem)
Given the fact that we haven't seen many other similar reports, it seems that this may be a system-specific issue. We do recommend you keep your eyes open for future updates in case they fix what you're seeing. If there's any additional insight you can give us that we may not have covered, please do let us know and we'll investigate further.
As long as you're able to save and load your games without the game breaking or if you're unable to progress shows that our backup save system to use the old save file location if the new one doesn't work is working as intended.
