Significant Problem with Game and Allied AI

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Significant Problem with Game and Allied AI

Post by anthonykevinluke »

Hi,

I have an inexplicable problem for Simovitch and the team; the allied AI has stopped flying ... completely, not even recon flights and on both Fronts, West and Med. I wandered back into my Axis Game (all games started with new patch) which was at the 10 Nov 43. Played that turn and as usual a very boring allied turn with 8th AF hitting the Uboat pens in France and the tattered remains of the Typhoons hitting radars. Next turn nothing flew; and despite periods of good and bad weather I have played up until the 01 Dec 43 (20 turns) and not a single allied mission of any sort has been flown??? Your thoughts would be appreciated, for your consideration.

Current Game stats:

As always my thanks to the dedicated team that keeps this old gem of a game going. I am playing the game patched up to date with the latest patch. The following are the statistics from my game playing as the axis against the AI.
. Date - 01/12/1943
. Score - AS 1, Industry -5, terror 10
. Axis losses - 649
. Allied losses - 3696

Cheers,

AKL

Simovich can speak better to this than I can, but hazarding a guess, given the Allied losses, in a relatively short period of time, I wonder if they have just run out of pilots, ant the AI is sitting back building up the replacement pool. Shot in the dark I suppose, but still, a possible possibility.

My guess is the AI is experiencing similar challenges as would a human player: Mandatory Uboat pens, bad weather, and not enough moonlight for BC's taste. When 1943 passes things will start to step up so enjoy the respite.

If, after 1/1/44 the AI is still lackluster I might start taking a look at the code.

Thanks for the reply Simovitch and co,

I'll keep going until Jan 44 and let you know. BC is in a dark period at the moment ref moonlight and has not really had many casualties at all (due to the lack of night fighting and not flying often). I hope that in the next build that you are able to allow 8th AF a bit more latitude in targets; I could have nearly wiped them out in the first two months by just putting all my 2E fighters in Western France as they kept focused on the UPENs (which they never seem to hit or hurt) and are out of escort range, but couldn't bring myself that low!
