Ship Pathfinding

Post by Tanaka »

Would still like to request that ships and subs only go through enemy ships when there is no other clear path available. I crash through other enemy ships so many times...

Yes I know you can do CNTRL and make your own path but this is tedious and the pathfinding algorithm almost always sends your ships through enemy ships. In fact when there is a clear path it still sends your ship through enemy ships. Seems like it would be possible to code to avoid unless no other clear option? Would help the AI as well to not always crash through other ships...

This is a very tricky one, one we have worked on but the trouble with avoiding the enemy vessel is that a decision therefore has to be made as to how it is to be avoided, and whether this could lead to the friendly vessel getting into more or less trouble as a result, e.g. by ending up bumping into a previously undisclosed enemy vessel, possibly in a very painful way.

Our recommendation therefore remains to use CTRL to set a path when there is a risk of passing through any enemy vessels.
