Disappearing Ambassadors?

Post by spinocus »

Anyone else experiencing a weird ambassador bug? I've lost two ambassadors in two separate games, both were agents of my Mortalen faction and set to manual control. Both game were set to Hard difficulty. The first ambassador was sent to the Haakonish capital which was invaded by the Boskara. I tried to reassign him to another world only to discover he vanished from my roster. After a bad start I set up a new game only to see another ambassador disappear from an independent Boskaran world after it was taken over by a Boskara faction (again!). Neither ambassador was taken prisoner.

Is this a bug or a feature? I get that terrible things happen during war, but this seems rather punishing if it's automatically triggered and not the result of RNG, no?

I cannot recall experiencing this bug in the previous betas or official releases.

Maybe they left when your leader left?

My capitol wasn't conquered, my neighbors' were. But no, the same leader was in charge before & after they disappeared.

I think your ambassadors dine on Boskaran cuisine now. Traitors.

When I conqueror capitals, the ambassadors become mine- I do have the "Characters at Conquered Colonies or Bases" policy set to Change Empire. Just checked a game to be sure I wasn't imagining it.

So if they are under the Boskaran flag now, they've been relocated or dismissed.

Wow, I never noticed and/or questioned the opposite effect taking place in previous games. I just assumed my empire's new alien pop combined with RNG produced a new ambassador. I also had no idea that was a policy setting. Thanks!
