SC: Europe with TRP Installed

Post by ChesterNimitz »

I installed TRP a few days ago and tried playing Case Blue two nights ago. To be clear, this was my first ever game of SC: Europe WW II, so I don't know if TRP has anything to do with the following bug.

At some point early on, I got this pop up window. If I hit OK, the game just hangs there forever with the little wheel spinning. If I hit Cancel, the window shuts and then reopens a few minutes later. Same results whether I hit OK or Cancel.

It's always the same uboat U-267 in Kiel.

This glitch has occurred both times I tried playing Case Blue.

Am I doing something stupid in my first ever attempt to play the game or is it a bug?

Turn off the unit mod, TRP is not compatible with unit mods, due to different units than the base game.
You may also have to turn off the map mod too, but I'm not 100% sure about that one.

Sorry, but I have two unfinished games with SC: WWII Europe, so how does one turn these mods off?

Under Settings/Mod?

or Single Player/Options/ Advanced?

If it's the latter, which ones specifically?

Mods can be turned on/off via Settings/Mod.

Also note with TRP you have to use NATO unit option.

Thanks, gents.

However, now I have a concern.

I have now disabled all the mods the game comes with (see image) because they are not compatible with the TRP Mod.

1. Did I make the right trade-off: TRP vs Mods?

2. As a total beginner at this game, do I really need TRP? Or should I stick with the base game for the time being?

These are the disabled mods.

You only need the mods off when playing a TRP game.
Feel free to toggle them on/off. Just have them set correctly before loading the turn, or starting the game.

Once you are comfortable with the base game go ahead and give TRP a try. It is all but a different game that is more complex and leans toward truer historical limitations. Many of us that play it won't go back to the base game.

Feel free to join the TRP reddit to learn more. There are also various youtube Let's Plays (although they are varying degrees of out of date to the current version of the mod). Lothos, the mod's owner, alsio has a very useful series for TRP beginners, but I would suggest getting used to the base game before viewing them.

Thank you.

Focussing on the base game right now sounds like the best thing for me to do.
