COI Operations question

Post by kodab89 »

Hi, how does operations work when the number of days is bigger than number of maps (scenarios) to be visited?
If e.g. I have an operation lasting 5 days and maps A, B, C, how does COI cycle between them?

If no fight takes place and I loose all objectives (eg. I flee every time) then it's A (1st day), B (2nd day), C (3rd day), C (4th day), D (4th day)?
What when I gain some objectives as a defending side? Does it cycle A, B, C, A, C (C being the last map)?

It's sort of confusing and I found no info on the topic nor any logic behind this.

Thanks

the maps are linked in a linear way west to east (or east to west). Days in an operation are the "battles" you can have in any one of them.

If you flee the current map where battle is supposed to happen on the current day you go back one map, depending on the side is the direction you will "flee" (germans home direction is west, left side - Soviets go east, right side) and the enemy will get that one map and one day is deducted from the total days left from the operation.

If you flee the last map in your possession and there's no other map to flee then the operation is over and you go to the next one.

Depends where the operation starts.

if you're fleeing from A to C, I guess you're the soviets (you didn't specify side) then the operation will end on the third day. Where the hell does the D map came from? lol

IF you stand your ground on the last map and manage to beat the enemy enough so they retreat and provided the operation has days left then yeah you can totally mount a counterattack and beat the enemy all the way back to their last map.

really? I find this is the least confusing Close Combat game in the series, basically just plug n play sort of game. A definite downgrade from the previous one in the series called "Close Combat II: A bridge too Far" that had the player manage strategic resources, in a rudimentary but fun way.

My mistake, meant to say C; So A->B->C and then C (2), C(3)

It may be so, but it's my first title so far :)
