RotS question (spoilers)

Post by Rochndil »

OK, I had a crazy idea, but it would take a LOOONG time to implement and require rolling back to an older save to test...so before I invest all that effort, I'd like to know if anyone else has tried it.

I just had the Shakturi show up around the rift, and then blitz off for the far corners of the galaxy. I could roll it a bit back and get a fleet or two there, but they're a good deal beyond my current tech level, so I'm not sure if it would have much impact. SO, the crazy idea is, put a mining base attached to every stinking rock around that rift. Sure, individually they're not that tough, but that adds up to a LOT of gun platforms. What I don't know is if their ships are immune/immortal to attacks when they spawn - the data they do display makes that look possible. There's not much point in investing years and an enormous pile of credit for no purpose.

So the magic question is, is there any point in trying to attack the Shakturi fleet at spawn? Other than to just piss them off of course. :)

As far as I know they not immune to attack on spawning, however I not sure how it would affect the storyline. Sure it could work...but only if they L mining with fighters and big guns and missiles.probably bancrupt the private sector too ...but why would you do that ? Its a decades long established perception that "Blitzing" AI opponets in strategy games is considered "cheating" as they have no way to counter this strategy.
Also everything that includes cheesy and gamey setups (not natural) is also like "cheating" as it uses loopholes in the code to create absurd scenarios that would not come about naturally.
For that purpose I could just open the Editor and spawn a dozen Battleships and be done with it. 8-) saves msyself the time to build 100 mining stations
