Duellist unable to lock target

Post by pmiranda »

Hi gang,

I've had a strange problem yesterday. My duellist jumped down in its hex. Right after that, 2 enemy titans entered the Duellist's hex (from behind). When I tried to lock one of these titans in the same hex to attack it in HtH combat, it looks like the Duellist was unable to get a lock, or at least unable to attack in HtH. Is it because of facing?

This must be my 5th time playing the 1st scenario of the Savannah campaign and I'm still losing... :-(

Hi
It is not because of facing. The problem may be because the Duellist in the only Titan in the original database that does not have a battle computer. Not having a battle computer means that locking enemies takes *much* longer, among other things. So that must be your problem. Check the attack mode display to see how long is it taking to get the lock (bottom right display).
Now, I have attached a revision of the database in the Titan Arena sub-forum, among other things the Duellist got a battle computer. Recons and lights have been somewhat improved, heat-wise. I suggest you get that one, and replace the old one.

As for c1m1, take advantage of the terrain.

I thought locking was automatic! Do I need a battle computer to lock?

You don't *NEED* one. But it speeds up the process rather nicely if you do happen to have one.

Besides, all ranged weapons are at -25 to hit without one, and you need about 25 seconds to get a lock. I can't see that a few saved tons are really worth that hassle, even in a pure CC machine.

I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
