Hi all,

Dammed this game is great, addictive as hell though. I know it might sound arrogant for a newbie but i have a few remarks and questions...
1. Is there anyway i can get artillery sounds with fast artillery on? i play with lots of artillery and frankly my time playing is restricted so i cant have 30 min game turns.
2. How shall i put this without u getting me all wrong... The game feels a bit slowish on my pc, when i compare with spIII which had a good speed feeling the movements and commands i give starts just a second too late on my screen if u know what i mean. Not that it will keep me from playing this brilliant game but just wondering if its my system or the game thats responsible ( i run it on a celeron 400 with 196megram, win 98 and 64meg videocard, not that the card matters i know but just wanted to show off haha)
3. I know it has been said before on the forum but just letting u know i would be greatly interested in a post 49' version of the game, even if its not free.
4. As a naval freak i have to ask, any naval games upcoming from matrix or ssi?
5. Keep up the good work but expect posts from my angry wife if she discovers my new addiction and this forum. (just kidding about the posts though... or maybe not...)

Hi Aragörn (son of Arathorn, master of the Middle Earth, I suppose). I haven´t noticed that slow speed you talk about SPWAW. Anyway maybe it´s just a problem of the speed preferences. Take a look at Preferences and you´ll find an option about the message speed. The lower (in secons) it is, the faster the action runs in your monitor. You can reduce it even to 0,10 seconds. Give it a try. Welcome anyway. I´m a recruit in this forum too.

Welcome to the forum newbies.

Hey if ya isnt aware, the "recruit" thing is a reflection of how many posts you have posted on the forum eh. So once you have racked up a fist full of posts, your status changes to veteran (not that the status implies anything).

Oooootherwise glad to have ya here.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Hi all!

I am also a newbie here. I havent even looked at Steel Panthers since the first game came out many years ago, and back then i played it like nuts.

But then came the CC series, and i got more addicted to them, i felt they were more 'livin' so to speak.

And now, i came across a few other gamelinks leading to matrixgames, i was surpriced the SPWaW was FREE!

That was indeed very generous of them (you?).

I also noticed the name 'John Gretz' and i was thinking of this name like dejavu. Is he former programmer of another gamer company, or have i stumbled across him at the B-A community or such?

Anyway, thanks for a very nice forum! And of course, games!

Aragörn: To answer you question on fast artillery and sounds, no there is no way to get sounds when fast is seleted. This proved to be a huge memory hog in older versions of SPWAW and with some of the battles in the game with sounds on the artillery barage would take as long as 20 minutes to complete.
