vessels that come with the game can not be changed, sorry.

Adding ships is rather easy. Head over the http://www.starshatter.com and check out the MOD SDK on how to add ships in. If your looking for ships already made check out http://ssd.servehttp.com/ssdv2/

In demo you can use ship mods for singleplayer missions only. No way to get them work in multiplayer. Ships in campaigns are written in campaign files. You can't get modded .DAT files to work. All custom mission and mod files need be located in mods subdirectory. To get modded ships appear in mission editor (and otherwise to work), you need start game with command stardemo.exe -filesys. Multiplayer is disabled by this.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.
