Game crash when I try to play

Post by Buck Beach »

Here goes. Bought and downloaded the game at my son's who has a cable modem. Burned a disk using Nero at his house (he has Windows 2000). Started the game at his house and it started fine. Returned home with the disk and copied it to my computer and it seemed to install OK and I get the icon on my desktop. When I open the game on desktop I get the openning screen. I have used the openning screen to: register the game; open Armchair General; and access the forum. However, when I go to play the game it starts loading and then freezes while trying to open my Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator (I have no idea why it opens that program). The Windows Task Manger shows War in the Pacific, Easy CD & DBD Creator 6, and WITP Gamemenu (SA) all running. When I end the Roxio task with the task manager it returns me to the openning screen. I have Windows XP.

I had that exact problem with Roxio a while back. It will work on your newer one if you COMPLETELY uninstall and reinstall Roxio. There's a file in there that's corrupted. I had to do the same thing and it worked like a champ.

Give that a try and it should work fine.

Hey cool! Gotta love those little victories. [8D] You said you have it on the other machine too? Just watch it in the coming weeks and months. Just out of curiousity, is it Roxio 5.0? I have 6.0 and haven't had that reoccur, but 5.0 I had a file go corrupt and had to reinstall... Just remember to do that if/when it reoccurs, and you'll be set with that other system also.

I have Roxio 6.0. While this is off topic did you see where they want $70 for an upgrade to 7.0 and that is with a preferred discount (be a cold day in hell). Hmmm. those people that think that $70 is too much to pay for this grand scale WITP game should thank the developers for being so reasonable (and they throw in all their support to boot).
