How to get troops into Burma

Post by matthew_buttsworth »

I have tried to move troops overland into Burma using the trails to Lashio and Mandaly but the troops have stopped dead in the jungle and need support while my Chinese troops are stranded in the mountains.
What can I do and what is the best way of getting troops into Burma at the start of the long campaign?

Short answer is, you don't. The Jap army units would just steamroll them anyway. Those trails you mentioned are your natural defense line, since the IJA would have the same problem.

Small groups can try to airlift. By sea thru Rangoon but overland will still take a lot of time and thats if you still own it and can protect ships into the port.

By sea to Moulamain, Ragoon mostly has a CD unit sitting around (if you play the AI); and that can get quite ugly Moulamin is mostly only lighly defended.

hope it helps

You will need a lot of supplies in Assam if you want to go in by land; you should have them by 1943 or 1944; in 1941, you don't try to get troops into burma; you should try to get them out; The japanese will overrun them if they use enough troops (2-4 Divisions); No matter how many troops you throw in, they will crush you; in 1944, when your buildup is complete, you can try to reenter Burma! Another option is airlifted supply; so, your advance in Burma will depend upon your Transport airgroups
