AAR - 1805 Campaign - Russia

Post by Greyshaft »

The new playtesters are starting a PBEM game to test the system.
I'm playing Russia and will put my observations here.
We are just going through the setup phase at the moment

France is doing setup now then we start the game.

EIA comes with some preprogrammed setups and I chose the "RuWON1805_prussiansurprise.set". It creates two armies close to Prussia but they can just as easily swing south to defend against Austria. I am waiting for France to set the pace before I decide on my diplomatic moves. I suspect (hope?) that Turkey will be too busy in the Med to get involved in any immediate move north.

Hey guys:

Thanks to Greyshaft for the great work!

Just wanted to add a developer's note to let you know that you can also create your own setups for use later own. The only restrictions are that they must be used in the same scenarios (For obvious reasons such as the diplomatic startup differences from 1805 vs 1812) as the one, in which, they were created.

Thank you
Thank you

I have to say that the art work on the map is one of the best I have ever seen!

Lets finish setup and have some battles first :)

I think we're just waiting for France to complete his setup then it will all happen

Good to see it's coming along. I haven't been following the PC work much, but I played the board game some years ago, and wouldn't have minded a computer equivalent then.

One minor bit -- a certain province isn't really named "West Pussia", is it? Surely it's "West Prussia"? And one might wonder whether manpower / tax numbers will be shown in an overlay; it looks like there's room on the board/screen for it, anyway, in addition to in the province description window.

Love the preset idea and the ability to make our own and save for future use.

My hands are shaking, eyes glazed and mouth watering..

The problem with giving as game to testers is that they find problems... which is why you gave them the game in the first place.
We've found an issue in the setup sequence which we are looking to resolve before proceeding.
Stay tuned.

Oooohhhh!! This is exciting. Really looking forward to more AAR's and Screen shots. Would you go more in depth about each segment of the game as you post. For example, explain the set up process and how much control the player has over unit placement, etc.
Thanks and keep up the good work.[:)]

Wow! That map is fantastic! Really looking forward to this one. Sorry if this has been asked before but is there a scenario list available? Or is it just one big campaign game?
